This grant was created by the Educational Theatre Association: Ohio Chapter state board to mimic a similar program started by the International Thespian Society in 2011 for Thespian Festival. The goal of this board is to raise enough money yearly, through sales at the boutique and silent auction at conference, for one troupe to have the opportunity to attend the Ohio State Thespian Conference. This would give their troupe the opportunity to join other students and teachers from the state in seeing exceptional performances, participate in workshops to sharpen their skills, and audition for college admission and scholarships.
This grant is for one current Thespian troupe that has been unable to attend state conference for the past three years and can demonstrate financial barriers to attending. The application can be submitted by a Thespian troupe director or an inducted Thespian with the approval of the troupe director.
The selected troupe will receive a one-time grant to cover its state conference registration fees, for a teacher, up to 12 inducted Thespians, and one additional chaperone, plus travel fees to and from the conference.
