Senior Sarah Parrott as the first ever recipient of the Jimmy Humphries Endowed Scholarship in Technical Theatre. Nominated by Centerville Performing Arts Center Manager Mike Cordonnier, Parrott was selected from a pool of talented nominees in recognition of her extraordinary commitment in the classroom and on the stage.
“Sarah has always been a student that I can count on to get things done,” says Cordonnier. “ Her dedication and passion to our theatre program is exemplary and will prove beneficial to her next steps in life…Very few students reach the level of proficiency and dedication that Sarah has attained.”
“I’m very thankful for the support I’ve received,” says Parrott. “I feel incredibly honored to have been thought of for this award. The immense gratitude that I have for my theatre program as well as all of those who have supported me through years is indescribable.” Parrott will attend Sinclair College in the fall to major in Theatre Technology. She plans to focus heavily on audio engineering and design.
The Jimmy Humphries Endowed Scholarship in Technical Theatre was established through a generous gift—the largest such gift in the organization’s history—from Wittenberg University Associate Professor of Theatre and Dance James Humphries. Humphries is a former Ohio EdTA board member, whose work has been recognized multiple times for design excellence by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. In 2002, he was inducted into the Educational Theatre Association: Ohio Chapter Hall of Fame.
